Stewardship of Talent

“Christ has no body on earth but yours.
No hands, no feet on earth but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which he looks with compassion on this world.
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good;
Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world.”
-St. Teresa of Avila

God has blessed each of us with unique talents and gifts.  As good stewards, we must accept and cultivate those gifts and use them to serve our community of faith.  By sharing our talents, we serve God, strengthen our parish community, bless the lives of those we touch in our outreach ministries, and help carry out our mission of “making a difference here on earth and in the life to come.”

There are countless ways to serve in both our parish community and our outreach ministries.  Click Here to view our Time & Talent Booklet for a description of the various ministry opportunities available at Holy Name of Jesus Parish.

Stewardship of Time

Each of us has the same amount of time each day, and to be good stewards we must use this time wisely.  The stewardship of time is not just about the amount of time we spend serving in parish ministries, but rather how we spend all our time.  Our first priority must be our relationship with God—time spent in payer, study and participation in the sacraments, including regular Mass attendance.  Our second priority must be on family—spending time strengthening and nurturing our families.  Our third priority of time must be on our relationship with our parish and our community—time spent helping others as they continue on their spiritual journey or deal with life’s day-to-day struggles.  We must all prayerfully consider how we are currently spending our time, and look for ways to be better stewards of the 24 hours given to us each day.
